RUN FOR A NORTH JERSEY MASTERS BOARD POSITION AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! 

YOUR PARTICIPATION  WILL HELP TO PROMOTE NJM’S MISSION TO FOSTER ACTIVE AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLES FOR ALL  

AND TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF THE CLUB.

 

A team of passionate and dedicated board members is essential to:

*Sustaining NJM’s rich history and culture

*Representing the interests of membership

*Fulfilling the club’s responsibilities as a non-profit 501(c)(3)

 

 

VOTING WINDOW : NOVEMBER 11-13th ( 2024)
ELECTION DATE:  NOVEMBER 13th (2024)

 

  • Club Elections take place annually within the first two weeks of  November.
  • The number of available open positions are determined by the term lengths of current serving  board members and  by the By-Laws.
  • To be eligible for a board role member candidates must be a member in good standing for a minimum of one full year previous to the election year and be actively engaged in the club.
  • Interested members must complete a LEADERSHIP APPLICATION ( application can be found in the MEMBERS menu).
  • Applications  and qualifications will be reviewed  by the election  committee, who will be seeking candidates who demonstrate they possess the proficient and diverse life skills needed to further NJM’s mission.  
  • Election committee will interview and recommend qualified candidates to the board.
  • Candidate profiles will be posted on the website.
  • Candidates will have opportunity to speak for 5 minutes (at a club organized zoom or in person event) to introduce themselves and to share how they can help to represent membership if elected to the board.
  • When the voting period opens, members will receive a link  from via Election Buddy, an electronic voting website, asking to cast your vote. The process is user friendly, quick and secure.   
  • Votes may  be cast over the designated three-day window.
  • Election Buddy will calculate the results, which will be announced to the club post-election.
  • The current board will continue to serve and make decisions on behalf of the club until the formal transition meeting takes place  (typically one week following the election).
  • Board Meetings are held monthly from September thru June on the second Tuesday of the month.  Meeting duration is approximately 2 hours and conducted via Zoom.
  • Post meetings, there will be regular email communications to address outstanding issues/business as  need arises.
  • Additional ad hoc meetings can be scheduled at the will of the President including during the months of July and August.
  • Each board member assumes a committee chair or supporting  role ( click on menu for committee roles) and actively contributes to the success of The Ridgewood Run.
  • NJM’s elected board members will be asked to complete SafeSport training to be compliant with the USATF Safe Sport program. The purpose of the training is to learn the facts, principles, and strategies to provide safe and positive sport environments for membership. Note that USATF mandates a background check as a pre-requisite to the training.
